I also was duped into buying "Whispers From Heaven" which is published by T.D.Jakes. Two young people came to my door selling subscriptions from Chapel Sales on 5/29/02. The cost of the order was $48.00, however I only paid $25 that day. Later on I was billed for the remainder of the money of which I did pay. I was told that it would take anywhere from 60-90 days tio process the order. It is now Oct., and still I have not received my order.
All this has left a bad taste in my mouth. From now on, anyone coming to my door will no longer be welcome as far as sales are concerned. I do plan on reporting this to the Better Business Bureau for whatever good that will do, but at least others can beware of this company!
We know that Chapel Sales received C's subscription order AND that they had an address which was good enough to send the bill to. If, as in at least one other case reported here, the order has a "bad address flag" and was never sent in to the publisher, it will be another 3 months after contacting Chapel Sales before the subscription starts.
Of couse, we are unlikely to hear from all the people whose orders were handled properly, so there's not enough information to say that this is a "pattern" ... but don't pay for that subscription in cash, and hold on to that receipt, if you're buying from an agent who comes knocking at your door.
