You might think that when you order something from Home Depot, you should be able to rely on Home Depot's reputation for the installation.

Most of the time, at least, Home Depot's installations will be done by subcontractors. For certain kinds of work, the subcontractor will have fixed prices for the work to be done, but that doesn't include charges for additional things that need to be done. This can add hundreds of dollars to the installation cost that Home Depot quoted you.

If you feel like you're being taken, send the installer away. Whatever you were planning on buying from Home Depot, you can buy somewhere else.
