Bunny,

I think I need to add that I was consultant. I found out that after a year Mk wasn't something that I wanted to pursue and so I quit and started another business that is more suitable towards my personality. So, I think it's fair to say that I'm not coming to this discussion with rose colored glasses on. I do have 2 very close friends who are doing *extremely well in MK and do not share the opinion that they aren't making good money...because they are. But then again, everyones idea of what "good money" will vary greatly so you may not view it the same way.

I also would like to add that I believe personality issues are the root of all the different opionions swirling about the MK business. No matter how good a business is their will always be those who simply will never consider it to be good enough. That's why I hope that those who are considering a MK business look elsewhere for information regarding the business. I personally wouldn't trust opinions, stories, etc., on the internet to persuade me either way. You can join the company, I think for a 100 bucks and choose not to do a big order. Work it and give it some time to see if it will fit into your expectations.

Hi Rebekah,

While personality issues no doubt play a part in the swirl of opinions, I honestly don't think that is the main source of the extreme dismay, and sense of having been genuinely abused, evident in so many posts.

I think some people have had VERY bad experiences, and their distress only increases when it seems that the very people to whom they come to report such bad experiences, seem to turn on them, or to persist in discounting all they have to say, apparently mostly because they have had the audacity to speak openly about what has happened to them.

I agree that, for many (although not all) people, it's a small investment in dollars; but, because of the very personal "chain of trust" that is part and parcel of the MK recruiting method/style; and because MK holds itself out as a (unique) antidote and answer to a Godless, unethical, uncaring business world (and that, especially, and specifically, for women), many women go into their "independent MK consultancy" with an emotional investment far beyond any cash they put in. And they are encouraged to do this. And when they are deceived or abused it is not felt as just a business or career disappointment, it is felt as a deep and personal wound.

That's what I "hear" and read in many posts, and I would think that MK, and those who believe in the company, would want to do something to repair some of the damage, and help the company and its reps do better in future.

I agree no business is perfect, all we can do is pay attention: and if a business we're in starts really to go astray, we can either jump ship, or stay and work for change. Either choice is a good one, depending on the person and/or the situation.

Very best of luck with your new venture, and have fun, too!
