Wendy, I really appreciate that you are one of very few honest people who are involved with this business, and you truly sound like a decent honest person who does not take advantage of women by recruiting them to gain success for yourself. I would hope that a company who claims their die hard motto to be "God first" would not encourage their directors to take advantage of other women and chase wealth and riches at others expense and hard work. You must not want to acknowledge that you are affiliated with and feed a company who does ruin alot of people.

I quit because of the negative attitude from 70% of women who were targeted as potential customers for me. I also quit because out of that 70% of women who were rude to me, 20% were ex-MK directors or consultants who shared with me their opinion and horror stories about what they went through before they finally woke up. Bankruptcies, divorces, illness, and death. I began to research the company and found alot of despair in those who have been involved. I dont care that it made me an extra 500.00 a month in addition to my job. (Sometimes more and sometimes less). It was the principal; when I signed up and worked that business I was not putting God first, when I finally started to put God first again, and started to listen to him he told me, " this is not your place and you must stop because it is the devils work".

I went to my meetings faithfully at first and thought "what fun and very enthusiastic ladies". Then I began to see the hypocrecy. What "christian" women will say and do for recognition, riches, and the use of a company car. I hate to judge, but isnt this a sin and "NOT- putting God first". In my humble opinion putting God first would be fellowship and worship and spreading the gospel in that 2 hour meeting. Not "preying" on women who need attention and more money. Deception comes in many forms; either overt presentation of incorrect information, or just leaving out certain tidbits of information that might hinder a unit getting that recruit they are after. Its all the devils work. I just knew that car was not free. In fact it is very costly. My directors both drove Grandams and both from the blood, sweat, tears, and hard earned money spent towards their recruits inventory that most of the consultants dont sell. Im sorry this is wrong and you cannot make it right. Even if your unit does not subscribe to such atrocities, Its all the same you are trying to pull people into something that may not be for their good even if it is best for only you. How can you possible feel that this is right?

I to could have been quite successful in doing this business, but when I found out alot of things about it, I felt that it was just wrong. Here I read alot of bitter people who did not succeed. Instead of assuming its because they didnt go to their meetings, or they didnt work hard enough, or they gave up, I assume its because they may have realized that its not a very christian thing to do. Thou shalt not lie! And thou shalt not steal! Greed also comes to mind; and we all know where that gets us in the eyes of God.

I found out that all the talk about God this and God that was a cover up for alot of money grabbing hypocrits who are really good at hyping each other up to go out and recruit women to spend their money so the director can drive a fine car. The politically correct term for this is "hustling". I worked my butt off and sold MK but I refused to go and tell other women about the business and try and make them believe that it was a great business. I just wanted to sell. I found out that selling wasnt so easy because of the cutthroats who already tarnished their own commodity.

The only thing I really know about you Wendy is you profit from the cash and hard work of other women because you dont like them to finance their inventory. So your just a little more honest than the rest?

Regarding the comments about MK consultants selling on Ebay- I'd like to know how corporate is going to put an end to that. You may think it's the "lazy" way out, but for many of the sellers on there, it is the only way for them to make some of their money back after being told how important it is to have a full inventory, and after realizing what a poor choice they made listening to that advice. Many of those listings are from ex-Consultants and Directors who have no obligation to the company, and if the buyers want to take the chance of buying old or used products, that is up to them. Believe me, when a buyer is looking for a discontinued product, they know what they are getting was not recently manufactured! Also- I know there are Directors out there who may tell there unit to only purchase 1 of each Limited Edition item till they get orders for it, but there are a whole lot more who tell their unit they "better stock up now or it will be sold out". I am an ex-Director, and my Director would constantly tell us that, and tell us to tell our people that. She even had drawings for money when a certain amount of Limited Edition products were ordered (for ex: if the unit ordered a total of 500 Pedicure Sets she'd have a drawing for $500 and your name would go in for each set your purchased). Trust me- she couldn't care less how many you actually sold. And prizes based on sales? That's how it should be- and if your Director is having you fill out weekly accomplishment sheets and basing prizes on that- great! But the prizes from Corporate are based on ordering only- and statistics are based on ordering only. Maybe there wouldn't be so much MK laying around to be sold on Ebay if recognition was really based on SALES instead of ORDERING!

Someone mentioned in a previous post regarding ebay sales that, "It's hard to tell how old some of the product is, where it has been stored, if it's been exposed to extreme heat/cold, or if someone has tampered with it." I find this argument unconvincing because even is someone is an active consultant, that doesn't guarantee product freshness. You never have any way of knowing how old someone's products are or how they've been stored. Even an active consultant could sell old products that have been sitting on her shelf for ages, especially if she loaded up with huge amounts of inventory and is only selling part-time.

This is Wendy and I wasn't at this meeting so I only know that Ebay selling going to end. There was no time limit given and it could be 1 year out still (maybe?)...I don't know. It wouldn't be brought up I don't think unless it was soon. Thousands of Agreements have been terminated due to this illegal selling of MK. Maybe Ebay is banning all sales of skin care/cosmetics? Who knows! I would betcha that Estee Lauder and Clinique are also working against this selling. I would imagine NO Cosmetic/Skin Care company wants their products sold that way.

Someone with super dry skin could go order all Skin Care #3 without even knowing that it's wrong for her skin type and then she's out there saying that she can't use MK because of this or that. Wouldn't you think all companies are running into this? It's not like buying a bike or a coat or candles, it's products that are going on the skin. So I have no answer as to when this will happen but I know it's going to happen and maybe the above explained why it's happening. Wendy

Well, whoop tee do. Don't you think women take that risk everyday by going to the department stores and paying alot more for products than they do for MK only to try them on and maybe don't like them or react? If they don't like it, they give it away or toss it, so what? It IS like buying candles or anything else. Some people are allergic to candles and they'll find that out, but not unless they try it.

The REAL reason MK doesn't want this on Ebay or anywhere else, is because the directors have told us that WE ARE STEALING FROM THE POCKETS OF THE UPLINE!!!!!!!! (In the form of commissions lost), but hey, you already got the commission, you should be thankful these women aren't returning the products so that you get charged back for the commission you earned.

Wendy seems to toss alot of information out, only to find out she's never attended the meetings where these things were discussed. She did that before on one of her older posts. Made a comment, as if she was certain, only to find out it was a guessimation. If Ebay selling goes directors, then these women are going to wise up and return their products to corporate. They CAN DO SO after one year. So get ready for chargebacks!

And for those of you who need the product return number, it is 972-687-4700. All you have to do is leave your consultant ID. It's a very cold process, so don't expect the warm/fuzzy charm like when you joined. In fact, when you leave, your 'friends' will be gone and you will be told to 'fade away' as Ms. Turnidge stated in her earlier post. Gee, this must have been a lesson given to directors to tell x-consultants - that they needed to just 'fade away'. How kind, how 'positive', UGH!

Again ladies, with Seminar and 'goal achieving' only 2 months away....hold on to your pocketbooks, your credit cards, your inheritance, your kids piggy banks or your grandmother's bank account...Sky's the Limit!

I stated in my first post about the meeting that I was not there and that I just wanted to share it. Ebay was brought up on here and I found it interesting that I had just gotten that email from the Inner Circle NSD meeting. If you are a consultant, you can ask your Director about it because it has crossed my email about 3 times in the last week.

I would challenge that a Director told anyone that selling on Ebay was 'stealing from the pockets of the Upline'. A few consultants who sell on Ebay isn't stealing from a Directors pocket anyways and I would love an explanation on how you think it is. Wouldn't it make sense that that consultant would have to order to get the products she's selling on Ebay? Then wouldn't that increase her production in the Unit which in turn would increase the Director's commission?

I would rather go box up the products for my consultants then see them have to go through putting it on Ebay. See if you are ethical and if you truly look for the best for your consultants, you wouldn't mind a chargeback. I had the very FIRST ever return in my Directorship about 2 months ago. I very happily helped her out. We could tell almost immediately after the product arrived that it was not a good decision for her. Me and the recruiter helped her dwindle it down and get sales in the beginning because she wasn't sure and we wanted her to see a profit and she certainly sold alot but she was not up to it. As far as my "fade away" that is always their choice. I keep in contact with as many cosultants who faded away as possible. I have a friendship with alot of them and then others just fade away. It is what it is and I would love for them to keep in touch but that's not always possible if I didn't get to know them too well. Me and the gal who had returned product are close and we get together often. She also still buys lots of product from her recruiter but she just found that the business wasn't for her.

Seminar 2 months away? I hardly think this is an issue because it's a known fact this is one of the busiest selling times (with the exception of Christmas) for all consultants. My very, very old customers from years back are calling me for makeover and reorders and more classes are booking as school gets out and people have time. Sure some Directors have Unit goals they would like to achieve but if you don't want to be part of it, don't. A Director in SD had her best year ever a few years back and as she kept offering contests and what have you, she ended up having 3 New Directors and one was a new mom. These goals can help the consultants that want to move up but if you are not doing MK for that reason, then simply don't do the contest.

Some of my consultants won't sell anymore this Quarter than anyother Quarter. Many of them will though. The key in a Unit as a Director is that you do have many more personal use and only a few working it like a career. I never push the ones working it personal use. They order when they need to and most the time they call me when they need to order to ask a question. I do not ever call about them ordering...ever! Then about 10% are really focused on moving up and I work with them on the basis that this is their goal now and if it ever changes, to let me know so I am not pushing them. I have been trained to work this way and to not push people. Maybe some Directors don't heed this but this is how I know other Directors to work.

I was personal use and my life changed and I needed this business. My Director never bugged me but I contacted her when I needed info. This is what I do now. I think this is the best way to run this business.

Alot of what I say here is twisted around. What's the reason for that? Did I say I tell my consultants to fade away? This is the attitude on here that I am talking about. I can see giving your opposing view point but good grief, lose the hostility! Wendy

Wendy: You sure consume alot of this board, that's fine, but when I wrote that a director accused us from 'stealing', that was the truth, so you do not need to challenge my statement, nor any other statements I make or any statements anyone else makes. I DO NOT have to defend myself to you or anyone else. You can believe what you want, but do not, on a public message board, accuse those you disagree with as lying. You can write on this board til the cows come home defending Mary Kay Inc and your Unit of Integrity, however, as many, many women have experienced and shared, this is not how it is everywhere. So, rather than you defend Mary Kay to every person wanting to share, why don't you lose your hostile attitude to try to refute these experiences. This is not Wendy's board, nor anyone elses and it is not a PRO-MK board, there are thousands of those on the net.

The June 29 & 30 WARNING (2 months to Seminar) should be in the front of everyone's mindsets and yes, diamonds/rubies/sapphires, leather jackets and a ton of other 'prizes' are going to be dangled in front of women to 'achieve their goals' (aka, get those ORDERS in). It's the busiest time of Mary Kay year, because June 30 is the end of the Mary Kay year. June 29, 30 and September 16 are the three highest ordering days, isn't that curious? In MOST Units, all plugs are pulled out on women's credit cards....go check out the Complaint Station and see the levels to which the directors would go to get those gals to charge. It's shameful. June 29/30 women are 'finishing' directorship, etc., to 'cross stage' as I said before and so orders have to be placed, that is called PRODUCTION and it gets you stuff. On Sept 16, the new winter stuff comes out, that's why that's the third highest ordering day.

I think someone needs to file a lawsuit, or a class action suit regarding the practices of these women. The company covers itself in many ways, but not all. They leave out key information that consultants need to know when signing up. Women are being hurt all over the world. Sure, there are some that have gone from their comfort zone and succeeded in ways they never thought, well, yay for them, I am not talking about them. I am talking TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HURT, NOT to Wendy or anyone who has no problem with Mary Kay and I do not expect to keep being called a liar by Wendy or anyone else when I share true experiences.
Stella Stevens web search for Stella Stevens - 02 May 2004

Wendy here: I think it was you who said the word Liar, not me. I said I challenge the "stealing from the upline" because if someone sells on Ebay, they have to order and that ordering would mean production for a Director. So how does that steal from any upline in the form of commissions??? I still don't get it. Tom Whatley sent out a message to all Directors that I am unable to share as I don't know if I can but this company is ALL ABOUT the customer and consultants. They are making efforts to make sure things are being done correctly. The company works diligently for all of us in the sales force and I wish people on here were in their shoes for just one day. If you had to deal with all that I'm sure they deal with and within their scope of capability, maybe you would see things differently. It's easy to say that they should do this or that but if your not in that position, just how can anyone know exactly what doing this or doing that takes?
