God of the Bible vs. The god of MLM site is informative until I got to the part where it says that God forbids self-employment and people are just supposed to have a job! This person does not know that Bible well! The God of Heaven does not want people to struggle from pay check to paycheck! In fact, Proverbs 31 talks about business ownership, in Elijah's time a woman has her own oil business, Lot, Jacob, Abraham, Solomon, were very wealthy! ALL BUSINESS MEN! Where is he/she getting their info from? SOunds like this person is really of the devil!

Can you please identify the specific page that supports your claim:
... it says that God forbids self-employment

At http://www.users.fast.net/~gospeltruth/jobs.htm it in fact states:

The Bible is silent on the issue of self-employment vs. jobs.

Saying that the Bible is silent on an issue indicates that the Bible provides no specific direction one way or the other on the topic.

Think about it... If people are 'just supposed to have a job' that means they work FOR SOMEONE ELSE. Sam Walton was 'self-employed', an enterpreneur (sp?), wonder if Jesus was a self-employed carpenter? Mary Kay Ash was self-employed, people all over start companies and the owners/founders of those companies are self-employed and then they hire people to work for them (jobs).

Again someone must explain to you all that not everyone is CHRISTIAN, some of us our Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and so on. Please refrain from making remarks that could hold you liable. This is another reason to leave Mary Kay. You can't accept that you are not the only religion. You are all also starting to sound very much like a cult.

Jo--

I agree that when people present Mary Kay as some kind of religious thing, they're being exclusionary. I don't know whether Mary Kay endorses this approach, though this technique is not unique to Mary Kay in the MLM world.

Nevertheless, a claim to being "Christian" has appeal to some. You know what? If it works (and it isn't illegal), business is going to use it.

But don't worry. I'm sure there are plenty of MKers who will be happy to sign you up and front-load you with inventory, and promise not to preach any religion to you as long as your money is sufficiently green.

You're right, as long as the use of "God" or "Christianity" works, it will be used. I'm a little surprised that the ACLU hasn't jumped all over MK yet. It didn't go over very well in China though. lol I think MK will eventually change their term to "faiths" to comply with being politically correct globally. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to the day I get God's take on all of this :-)
