No company is perfect. No person is perfect. And some of us are better at finding the not-so-great stuff than we are at seeing the good. I wouldn't dream of discounting the feelings and frustrations of those of you who are dissatisfied. Everyone has a right to their feelings and opinions. All I know is what has worked for me and for my fellow MaryKay? "sisters".
First of all, I was encouraged, by a good friend, to have a complimentary facial with her consultant. Her consultant was kind, cheerful and NOT pushy. The quality of the products and what they did for my skin convinced me and I chose her to be my consultant. I was a very happy MaryKay? customer for many months, during which time my consultant would periodically mention that I could save money by becoming a consultant and purchasing the products for myself. She also pointed out that she thought I would make a very good consultant and would have no problem selling the products myself since I was so happy with them. She never made me feel uncomfortable. She was friendly, cheerful and always seemed to care about what was best for me. I really appreciated her attitude and encouragement. She wisely realized that I needed time to think about it, but that I also longed to reach my potential in life. I actually shocked her one day when I laughingly told her to sign me up. But I haven't regretted one minute of it. She went from being my consultant to being my MaryKay? director. And I only hope that someday I will be as good a director as she is.
This last year I went through a divorce and some pretty rough personal times, but she and her other team members, my MaryKay? "sisters", have been awesome. They're kind and encouraging and enthusiastic. Yes, each one of us has our bad days, but we lift each other up, concentrate on the good stuff and smile alot. I've worked with other MaryKay? directors due to combined unit meetings and have been pleased at their attitudes, helpfulness and encouragement. I've seen no pushiness or obnoxious behaviour.
I'm very grateful that my MaryKay? experience has been so pleasant. I only wish every consultant's would be.
My only problems with my MaryKay? business have been personal... changing my wrong concepts about me and what I'm really capable of doing. And I have to say that my director and the company itself have been awesome at providing me with the education and materials I need. The more I learn, the better informed and confident I am and, hence, less likely to be frustrated about something.
P.S. The directors I deal with, including my own, obviously believe in taking good care of their team members and that includes letting us in on products changes ahead of time so we can sell stuff off, give it as incentives to encourage further sales, gifts, etc. (I also have given discontinued product to womens' shelters, etc.) The truly GREAT women in MaryKay? are the ones who make what's best for their team members and customers their number 1 priority. Their businesses will grow beautifully (and enjoyably for everyone) that way!
