Hi all! Wanted to let current consultants (pale pink to light pink) know that we have formed a new group called "PinkBEEgone" for those consultants who have seen the truths about MK, MLM's and want to do business their way, not anyone elses nor use the half-truth tactics to lure women in for their own benefit. This group is by invitation only - closed to the general public and wanted to let these type of consultants who have not been taken in and fogged by pinkness that there is a place to discuss how you do your business as an INDEPENDENT (OF MK, INC) 'whisper pink' consultant.

Laura, How can you join that group? It says it is private. I am interested in joining because I just entered the reality that MK is not for everyone. My director told me regarding purchasing inventory and funding seminar that forgivness from my husband is easier to ask for than permission. Now, if MK is a Christian company, why should we have to deceive our spouses to make it work? Also, I have spent less time with my family than I had hoped for. I have spent so much time at these workshops that I have to pay for that I have missed seeing my husband very often. I just would like to join so that I can talk to someone who has been in my position. I have yet to talk to my recruiter about this. I will tonight, and I'm sure that she will try to talk me out of quitting. I enjoy using the products, and I want them to be available to my current customers, I just don't want to focus so much time and money on MK. I am a schoolteacher, and that is something I love and will do forever. I came into MK thinking I would do it forever too, and I was excited. I have since then decided that there is more to life than MK.

There is now a link to PinkBEEGone web search for PinkBEEGone toward the bottom of the MaryKayOpinions web search for MaryKayOpinions page. The link will take you to a page of instructions on how to apply for membership. I've added that link also to Laura's post above.

Cynthia,

The reality is, Mary Kay does not profess to be a "Christian" company. Mary Kay's philosophy was founded on the "Golden Rule." Not all directors, recruiters or consultants follow this philosophy and not all Christians follow it either. Keep in mind, MK allows believers and non believers to join the company so not all directors will practise what you may consider good Christian standards. I'm sure that in your line of work, you have witnessed co workers or dept heads that did not measure up to the standards that you value either. There's a horrendous amount of "politics" involved in the educational system.

You can choose to run your MK business as a hobby, personal service (sell to friends, family or co-workers) or part time consultant in the summer mths. for extra money. Of course there is more to life than MK and you have the right to stand firm on your belief. If MK Consultants would STAND their ground and let directors or recruiters KNOW that you will run your business YOUR way as YOU choose and you will NOT compromise, they would learn a valuable lesson from this.

I took my stand with my lovely, sweet but PUSHY director and eveything changed. I emailed her and let her KNOW this was MY business (I was nice but firm) and "if" I wanted to order or attend any MK events/meetings, etc. I would and if not, I won't. Also, please do NOT call me to invite me to anything or to place an order because I won't. I am NOT the consultant you can count on for unit production so please don't or you will be disappointed. In my case, my "NO" REALLY does NOT mean "maybe" so please respect that. "If" you can honor my request then I can stay in and if not, I will return my product.

It's very simple and trust me, the director WILL back off and you can still use MK for extra money during the summer. It's amazing how customers find YOU when you STOP looking for them. In the meantime, "if" you are unhappy with the way your director operates, go inactive for a year and rejoin under another director that best suits your needs. That's what I ended up doing and I was much happier.

I had my SHY (total introvert) daughter join MK at age 18 and she grew into an outstanding extrovert. She is no longer in MK, she has been out for years. She now runs an outreach ministry for teens. She claims till this day that if it were NOT for her MK training, she could never have accomplished what she has in her life. ______

> The reality is, Mary Kay does not profess to be a "Christian" company.

Actually, Mary Kay makes a big deal out of "God first, family second, carreer third." On the recruiting page of their corporate site, they mention the "God first" priority just before the Golden Rule. That priority set did come from Mary Kay Ash, and she was Christian. If you spend any time with Mary Kay people who emphasize the "God first", they are unquestionably talking about a Christian God.

It is certainly true that some people within any company practice their business with more integrity and other "Christian values" than others. However, there is a real issue with many people in the organization actually abusing the supposed Christian foundation to manipulate people with strong Christian beliefs.
