The women I know who sell Mary Kay, did this as a last resort. They could not find any kind of real job with health insurance, vacation, 401K (which MK does not offer). So, earning pocket money selling Mary Kay was a last resort. Its funny they say the Mary Kay business plan is taught at Harvard. Whether it is, or not, I have to say I never met a Mary Kay consultant who went to Harvard or any other Ivy League school. (Would Ivy League business school grads sell Mary Kay? I doubt it). These women aren't even licensed beauticians, so the idea that they are doing "skin care consultations" is a joke.

I also wish they'd quit telling people that MK gave them a "free car". That is a company car. LOTS of companies provide their employees with use of a car, Mary Kay is not unusual in that regard. Mary Kay women say that Mary Kay is the only company who "gives a free car" to their consultants. They lie. Its not a free car, and there are many companies who provide leased cars to their employees. Many sales reps have use of a company car.
