RIGHT ON! Ya'll are smart. See it for the way it really is. Don't listen to these brainwashed people who just happen to be on a positive whim now. When they crash and burn they'll be saying the same things. Unless of course they are like some women who really don't have any business sense or have any idea of how much money they even spend or have (it doesn't matter though as long as they wear a FAKE diamong ring all the way to divorce court because their husbands realized that even exorcism would not bring them back to the real world)! Some are just too far gone!
It's going to be hard to express my experience without writing for 3 days but here goes.
MARY KAY ASH WAS A VERY SMART BUSINESS WOMAN! HOW? Building a company for WOMEN. Men starting businesses would never fall for the GOD FIRST, DO UNTO OTHERS, DON'T TALK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS A CONSULTANT ALREADY...CRAP!!! In fact, nobody would who (owns their own business)!!!!! Mary Kay knew that women work on feelings and emotions and are easy targets for that sort of stuff. As an ex-Director I came in contact with just the opposite mottoes and behavior from other Directors. That is why they (very few) were driving pink cars. I have been more upset and completely messed up mentally by the Mary Kay thing than any other thing in my life.
LIFE CHANGING? YOU BETCHA. People in my town think differently of me now because I was the MK woman. But one must remember that not everyone can handle a sales job or an MLM type company right?? It's so funny, some women that I havn't even talked to for months AND MORE avoid me because of MK and feel like they might have to buy MK or be manipulated into agreeing to do a party or something. Who can blame them. I HATE IT. The bad thing is, I never pressured them anyway...it's just the MK reputation. Mary Kay brags about being around for so long and their products being great, well........really, everyone has had experience with it but most of them in a BAD WAY. PUSHY CONSULTANTS, MISLEADING INFO, LIKING A PRODUCT AND CONSULTANTS QUITTING ALL THE TIME...IT'S A WONDER MARY KAY STAYS IN BUSINESS THE WAY THEY RUN THE COMPANY. Even if I wanted to keep using it, I would feel worried about finding it when I run out.
My Director was/is a preacher's wife. I am also a Christian myself by the way and cannot believe how the Bible is used in Mary Kay for the sole purpose of making money. To hear her AND OTHERS tell it, we all deserve to be rich. "God didn't make diamonds for just the bad people," she said. "We all deserve" (I hate that word because we don't deserve anything when it comes down to it), to live in mansions, wear big diamonds, have servants and so forth. It's all in the way we think. SHE AND MARY KAY MAKES ME SO SICK THAT I AM THROWING EVERYTHING MK IN THE TRASH. I don't care if it is a good product, I WILL NOT SUPPORT A COMPANY THAT WILL CONDONE BEHAVIOR OF DIRECTORS, NSD'S, ETC.
I've thought many times to pick up the phone and call MK about my experience. YA KNOW WHAT? THEY COULD CARE LESS. WHY? BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE HOW THEIR DIRECTORS AND NSD'S SELL THE PROCUCT AS LONG AS THEY'RE SELLING IT. RIGHT? THAT'S MLM FOR YOU, BUT JUST DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE SAPPY STUFF, MANIPULATION,AND LIES. It's been a long time since I lost my Directorship (which I prayed for that extra inventory from my downline to help me keep it, But....I guess God just didn't think it was for me...oh, yeah, I could have just bought all that inventory myself to stay in, or better yet, gave money to my consultants to buy it for me.....oh it goes on and on and on and on.
DON'T BELIEVE FOR A MINUTE THAT ALL THESE BIG FAT CAT NSD'S AND DIRECTORS HAVE THESE FABULOUS LIVES BECAUSE, I KNOW. MOST IS NOT TRUE!! They'll do anything to have the appearance of a lavish lifestyle when in fact they are nothing but hard core saleswomen who stay on the phone begging, pleading, misleading, scheming, FOR 30 STINKING YEARS TO GET A DECENT PAY CHECK! YIKES! I'LL SAY IT AGAIN...30 STINKING YEARS. HECK, ANYBODY CAN MAKE DECENT MONEY AT A COMPANY IN 30 YEARS. EVEN CATTLE FARMERS IF THEY BUILD THEIR BUSINESS!!!
Most of them don't actually do any kind of work (except manipulating new consultants) and DON'T KEEP ANY INVENTORY and never did. My husband hit it right on the head. He said about my Director and her husband and others too, "if they lived a hundred years ago, they would all be selling snake oil from a wagon that cured all ailments when it's nothing more than whiskey in a cute little bottle) (like the episode of Andy Griffith when Aunt Bee was drunk...GREAT ONE)
To all the optimistic readers, Not every Director in Mary Kay is bad but....don't think for a minute that most of these consultants are just negative or lazy. Don't minimize their bad experiences. Lots of Directors do terrible things (telling new consultants to get loans, second mortgages on their homes, get loans from fincance companies with huge interest that help new consultants, and yes, I've heard consultants being played against their husbands if they would not go for getting 3600.00 worth of inventory, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING TO JUST TALK THEM INTO PUTTING IT ON THEIR CREDIT CARD) LUDICROUS!!!!
I'VE HEARD IT ALL STRAIGHT FROM MY DIRECTOR'S MOUTH AND LOTS OF OTHERS TOO. IT'S JUST THEIR WAY OF LIFE. LIKE A CULT. LIKE BRAINWASHING. BEWARE! AND..when these poor consultants do send that inventory back...guess what? That consultant is signed up under you as a consultant and not directly under the Director. Thant means YOU pay back back most of the commission not your Director. Ya see what I'm saying? Christian company my butt! The big news now is national advertising, which by the way, before in MK, it was a big fat no no and other companies who did that were awful and going to hurt themselves by doing it! Yea Right and who's the business mind running this company?
Since when is advertising a bad thing? Anyway, the big thing is MK on Desperate Housewives. Since when is sleazy sex shows of God? It's crazy! GOD FIRST, FAMILY SECOND, AND GET A REAL JOB AND BE THANKFUL WITH WAHT YOU HAVE. It is what it is. Multi Level Marketing and should be completely understood with no lies like this one: "be sure not to mention a $200.00 minimum or staying active until she buys her kit". My Director told me to tell all my downline that. If you took all the smoke screens away and told all potential new consultants the truth, then MK would be a fine job BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
Deceit is the blood of the way MK works. One does not own their business because MK set it up to not be responsible for the way its downline sells the product and sells the dream (which in fact is just a dream for a majority). Selling hopes of a lifestyle that ONLY A FEW IN THIS LIFE CAN OBTAIN, is so dangerous and borderline unlawful.
Not only did this experience (mostly because of my Director) put me and my family through HELL, every month I receive a new bill from MK. Consultants that signed under me months ago that were talked into buying way more inventory than they needed (by my Director) or had no business sense or intention of selling it, keep sending it back and guess who has to pay back commission. ME AND MY HUSBAND. So not only did I end up in the hospital with almost a heart attack and my kids got totally ignored through DIQ I OWE THEM MONEY. Yes, anyone who orders at anytime can have a year to decide they want to send it back. GET REAL. BE CAREFUL. If you get paid commission on what anybody buys while they're signed under you, you better just take that money and put it up for a year. It is the law that anything you purchase, they have to take it back. Not just when a consultant signs up and gets inventory ANYTIME!
I am no longer in MK and out of 36 people signed up under me, 2 or 3 consultants
still order and barely keep active. THERE'S SOME NUMBERS FOR YOU ABOUT SUCCESS RATE.
Most of the Directors that I personally knew or knew of are in the same boat!!!!
