I just have a question for everyone who has a problem with the pyramid thing.
I work for MK as a consultant and understand that "yes" they do make money off of us. I don't understand what the big deal is about it. Ok, some Directors can be too bosy or demanding, especially when it is to be your business. That I understand, but you just tell them how it is...mine knew up front I was doing it mainly for personal use but that kinda grew when people approached me.
Anway, if you work in a company, your boss makes money off of what you are doing for him as well? The more you produce, the more he produces. Same thing, so what's the deal..no matter where you work, SOMEONE is making money off of you. Even if you have your own business, where ever you buy your supplies, they make money from you as well.
Something to think about!!!

Well, Einstein, pyramid schemes are illegal. With a "regular" job, it is a legitimate, income producing venture. With MK, it is a money-losing venture since less than 1% of people in MLMs make money. That's why the pyramid thing sucks. In a company, you get a paycheck. In MK, you make no money.
Thanks for the Einstein comment...I guess MK is not a pyramid scheme or they would have done something about it being illegal and all. I've made about $1,000 profit in one year. Granted, it ain't much, but then again, I'm a stay-at-home mom so even $100 would make me happy!!! I actually started MK for personal use and just sell to family and friends. Well worth it to me as I don't go out to find recruits anyway (not for me). I'm happy keeping things the way they are.
What's bad about these types of businesses is how many people they go thru when they "work the numbers". Hence, the pyramid looking shape. Think about that. People are financially HURT by the HYPE and that's bad. Jobs train people to do what they expect them to do. They don't tell a new employee to "fake it til you make it" and/or hold training 3-5 months after they get a promotion like MK does it's directors.
People are also emotionally hurt when they don't make it not realizing that most will not make it due to the structure of the system. Not everyone WILL be President, anyone CAN be but the odds are clear that you WON'T be. They do not present the odds to you in a pyramid scheme - they insist everyone WILL be President (National or whatever) if you only do the work.
Do a search about this on the internet - I'm glad to hear that you're happy where you are and making a bit of income (that's very important to SAHM's, I know!) - but do educate yourself on them; you'll find it very interesting. My website www.thepinkingshears.org has plenty of links to other sites that will inform you of what goes on in these 'systems'.
Thanks for the information. I've attended meetings before and so far, haven't heard of any Directors selling inventory to their consulants. Sometimes we trade if our customer is in need of something we don't have, but then again, some consultants won't due it since MK doesn't like it being done. Again, I'd be happy just to buy for myself...saves me tons of money but I still like the little extra I do get.
