I have a newly formed Husband's Crisis group led by a Husband who lost his marriage to his wife being in Mary Kay. What was a good marriage before MK is now over as she has sucked a ton of money from their resources. She traded her "real" jewelry for the "fake" jewelry and bangles MK offers as prizes (hadn't earned any of the real stuff yet)
You can find it at the link to the Pinking Shears below and it's listed on the tab with it's name.
This man watched his husband morph into someone he did not know anymore and with the finances being drained from his home - the marriage soon dissolved.
In the post above this one, "Lynn" mentioned another marriage on the rocks and couldn't believe it was attributable to the wife's involvement in Mary Kay. She mentioned that the husband was just "insecure" since his wife had gained so much confidence.
I was thinking about that one tonite and while it's great a wife pretties herself up (she should do it for her husband, not other women); the schedule of a Mary Kay representative interferes with normal family life since most "classes" are done in the evenings and events are held on the weekends.
I recently communicated with a director thinking of stepping down and her entire week was filled with evening Mary Kay duties which ran into Saturday for yet another event.
Many women moving up will even sacrifice Sundays in order to "sacrifice now for gain later" a classic mlm line. But, what they gain is more "self" and leave the families behind.
New directors are oftentimes encouraged to get housekeepers - why? Because you'll not have time to clean your home anymore and on some training documents, they say to cook a meal for your family before MK events once in a while to let them know how much you care!!!
I would think that being gone 5 nites a week for MK events and on weekends could have something to do with a marriage on the rocks.
Another thing Lynn did not touch upon is how MK reps TEACH consultants how to deceive their husbands via hiding who checks are written to so he doesn't ask. There's alot to marriage break ups in MLM businesses when one person gets swooped up in the hype and neglects normality.
