You shouldn't use your DirectBuy visitor pass unless you're sure you're ready to spend several thousand dollars on a DirectBuy membership.

No, and here's the fundamental reason why:
The reason for not using the visitor pass unless you're sure you're going to become a member is that if you decide against signing up at the end of the presentation, then you're barred from becoming a DirectBuy member for 7 years.
If you sign on for the free trial, then surely the same rule applies at the end of your trial period: if you don't sign up, you'll also be barred from becoming a DirectBuy member for 7 years.
It's a true "Hobson's choice" ... either you take the offer they give you or none at all. To avoid this dilemma, just don't go there.
