If you've read DirectBuy Lawsuits
, then you know that, in just one municipality in Ohio, DirectBuy has sued dozens of people who signed up for DirectBuy
who had financed their membership fees, and later, either couldn't or wouldn't pay.
Although many of these people may have just been bad at making financial decisions, thus overextended themselves and got sued by DirectBuy as a result, there ere are certainly others who decided the DirectBuy membership wasn't worth the money they were paying each month and therefore thought they shouldn't have to complete their obligation under the financing arrangement.
There are probably many more who felt that, even if it wasn't worth the membership fee, they were still obligated to pay the full amount due under the financing arrangement, and others who didn't think it was worth the membership fee, but who had paid the membership fee in full yet didn't feel they had any recourse to obtain a refund of the membership fee.
What's the point?
If you're going to attend the open house, you're not going there to learn about DirectBuy, but to purchase a membership.... and if you're going to purchase a membership, it's likely you'll have reason to seek legal counsel to help you understand your rights and obligations with respect to the purchase and/or financing of the membership.
Therefore, before you attend the DirectBuy open house, it's advisable for you to select an attorney who can help you with this should the need arise. Duh!
